baby on the way.....
anna started labor this AM about 4- we are still at home, but all things point to a baby sometime in the near future- this is when she started with l man too, and he came at 230 the next am.....
on another note- any suggestions how one teaches confirmation to a senior girl- who desparately wants to be confirmed this spring before she graduates- what is the best way to do this?

YAY BABY TIME!
i'll think about your other question but it may be best answered by those more spectacular than I and those ontologically changed.

JG, I am thankful that you shared about the labor! I am praying for each of the four of you--for health and great joy. WOW!
I think you can cover so much material 1:1 with this senior girl. You can forgo the antics and hoops and talk about the elements of faith. I also wonder if you could set her up with a mentor in the church who is a mature christian not afraid to share faith and life experience. Here's another way--"Well you are the one confirming your faith...what do you still need to know to do that? You give me the subjects and we will work through them one at a time"
Good Lord, to have the desire to get confirmed is AWESOME...go with that energy. Paz

confirmation - what a wonderful time to spend talking about the nitty gritty parts of our faith.
if i were you i would begin where chad indicates, 'your the one affirming your faith, what do you still need to know?' remind her that she is going to publically affirm the promises her guardians/sponsors made on her behalf. what more does she need to know before she is able to make those promises herself.
walk through the rite of affirmation of baptism and talk through the whole service. what do the different parts of the worship service on that day mean: gathering, word, meal, sending, etc. this would be a great opportunity to connect much of what we are called to do as christians to our rootedness in worshiping the one who calls. in worship we utilize the creed, the lord's prayer, and the sacaraments. it may take some creativity to include the commandments and the office of the keys.
creativity is the key to working with this person. perhaps she could make a chalice and patten. maybe she could bake some bread for communion. perhaps she could be an assisting minister or play some role in the worship service the day she is confirmed. this would be a fun time to also include those younger kids who will be confirmed at another time in worship leadership.
we can chat more about this if you want.
